For a bio, use the versions that are linked here. What follows is a more informal version.

I began my undergraduate education at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay. After two years there, I transferred to Caltech. After completing my undergraduate degree (1994), I spent a semester as a graduate student in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. I returned to Caltech to complete my Ph.D in Computer Science* (1998). After finishing my Ph.D., I joined Cornell where I was on the faculty of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering for eighteen years. At Cornell, I was a member of the fields of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, and started its Computer Systems Lab. I joined Yale in 2017, where I am currently on the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

*Note: the Caltech CS department where I received my Ph.D. no longer exists. The new Caltech department of "Computing + Mathematical Sciences" is quite different.
